About Me

My name is Aoife Ryan. My pronouns are she/they.  I am married and have 2 children.   In a previous life I worked in many corporates, before taking some time to have my children.  Having them set me a on a journey to where I find myself today !

I began my personal journey in earnest so that I could be the very best version of myself that I could be both for myself, and for my children. My studies, experience and own personal mentoring and growth have been absolutely life changing and have made an incredible difference to me personally and as a parent.  Understanding my own story, with compassion and love, helps me compassionately understand and connect with my clients. Discovering the true meaning of unconditional love has opened up a whole new world for me.

I continue my personal journey seeing a personal mentor regularly and engaging in regular supervision to ensure the highest professional standards are maintained. I graduated with First Class Hons in HDip in Relationship Mentoring from University College Cork (Level 8). I also hold a HDip in Human Resource Development from National College of Ireland.

More recently I completed an MSc. Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling Skills 2021 (Middlesex University).  I attend regular supervision for this work, both one to one and group.  This work with adolescents and children is very important to me and hugely rewarding.  â€‹

I am currently undertaking further study as a PhD. candidate in TUS, researching relational safety in therapeutic relationships.  This is my passion and I am very much looking forward to deepening my understanding and awareness of what relational safety is, how it feels, how it can be developed and maintained in relationships to bring the most positive outcomes in therapy settings.

I am also currently undertaking a level 9 micro credential in Mentoring for Equality Diversity and Inclusion through Maynooth University.

I have a deep personal interest in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and in particular trans/non binary adolescents.

Continuous Personal Reflection is a fundamental part of my training and continued development.  Striving to remain conscious and self aware is a daily practice for me.

I have completed many additional training courses in various topics and undertake a minimum of 30 hours per year of Continuous Professional Development.  The CPD is a combination of training courses, workshops and professional conferences.

I enjoy working with many organisations, providing support for management and staff alike.

I am an Associate Lecturer with PCI college, lecturing on the MSc. Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling skills programme, and the BSc. Psychotherapy and Counselling programme.  I am also a part-time lecturer on MA The Psychotherapy of Relationship Mentoring in Technological University of Shannon (TUS).

I participated in Social Entrepreneurs Ireland "Ideas Academy" in 2022, which was hugely rewarding.

I am a volunteer ambassador for Suicide or Survive and I am a volunteer student mentor on the STEM Passport for Inclusion (Maynooth University).

My work is an absolute privilege and I continue to be awed daily by my clients and the amazing nature of the Human Spirit.

I have fully professional accreditation with AAPCI, IARM, APA and I am a pre-accredited member of APCP.
